Seasoned Collector: Hillsborough Show Kicks Off A Busy Month For Collectors

There is so much happening the weekend of April 26 and 27 that it will take two columns to tell you everything. Here's the first round of news, and I'll have more next Saturday.

This marks the 40th year of the Hillsborough Antiques Show and Sale, an event held three times a year. It's probably the most anxiously awaited of all indoor antiques shows held in Northern California, for very good reasons.

At this show, hundreds of vendors offer a great variety of merchandise. Want a piece of Tiffany glass? You'll probably find several examples. Like Arts and Crafts-era furniture? It's here. Want some jewelry? Lots of it is displayed. And this is just for starters in two huge buildings crammed with objects, attractively displayed in well-lighted booths.

The spring extravaganza takes place at the San Mateo Events Center (Delaware and 25th streets, near Bay Meadows Racetrack, just off Highway 101 in San Mateo). read more
