Truck Packed With Newly-Minted Coins Crashes Near Kamloops, B.C.
KAMLOOPS, B.C. - A transport truck packed with quarters has tumbled down a nine-metre embankment west of Kamloops, B.C., spilling part of its load.
The truck was transporting the coins from the Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg when it went off the road Thursday night. Its driver and a passenger were slightly injured.
Police have not said what might have caused the accident, but it did take place on a narrow and steep section on Highway One.
Officers have been posted at the accident scene on the Trans-Canada all night, in part because don't want traffic backing up.
They also want to discourage any freelance coin collectors.
